The Millinocket School District would like to welcome you to our website which is more than just a look at our schools, it is a look at our town too.  We are located at the edge of Baxter State Park and home to a state of the art Outdoor Recreation facility.  As a school district we are lucky to have such a supportive and safe community to work and learn. We are dedicated to providing a world class education that is rigorous, relevant and motivating to ensure that students reach their individual potential in an environment of continual learning for both students and staff.

The two schools in our district are wonderful facilities that have state of the art technology, wonderful teachers, and create innovative learning environments.  Granite Street Elementary has been part of the Reading First Grant and offers students a chance to grow in a reach literacy based curriculum.  Stearns Jr Sr High School has integrated their core disciplines in classes such as Herpetology Lab, Outdoor Education, and Engineering. Our school has been part of a grant that allows for University of Southern Maine fellows to work with science classes on extended labs.  The high school also has award winning Performing Arts programs and sports teams.

Please take some time to explore our site and see just what is available to students in Millinocket, Maine.

The Millinocket School Department utilizes all assessment data to help inform our practices at the district, school, classroom and individual levels for our students.  Although we encourage students and parents to participate fully in our assessment program, it is important to note that parents/guardians may opt their child out of state testing.  If you are interested in doing so, please reach out to your child's principal to make this request in writing.
