All the bus drivers are going down to Thorndike for an all day school bus training session over April vacation!
Our spring family night was a huge success. Thank you to Julie Hale, Courtney LeGassey, Carrie Lyons, Linda Albert, Shelley Farrington, Taylor Sulander, Corinne Reece, Danielle McNally, and Melanie Thibodeau for all the work and time your put into this event. Congratulations to Avritt Preble and Sawyer Harmon who each won a gift certificate for the upcoming Scholastic's book fair. Congratulations to Avery Helms who had the closest estimation and won the container of Robin Eggs. Congratulations to Kenny Kunkel and Rhonni Charette who each one a $25 Amazon gift card.
Jessica Jordan from Jordan Farms came to Granite on April 9th. Each grade joined her in the conference room to learn how a kernel of corn grows into a stalk with an ear of corn, and them can become popcorn. Students were given a kernel of corn to plant in their own cups of soil to take home. They also watched the kernels becomes popcorn and enjoyed this treat. Thank you Ms. Jordan for this great learning opportunity.
A reminder that yearbooks are on sale! We have not sold many to date and just want to make sure anyone that wants one, gets one ordered! The yearbook contains 6th grade through 12th grade. This is a great way to hold on to your child's school memories!

Ms. Angela from Versant Power visited the fourth graders to talk about safety around power lines. Some things she talked to them about was the amount of electricity that flows through the lines and into houses. The students enjoyed her demonstration with the model of little town. One of the biggest take aways was that electricity doesn’t like to be different. She also shared samples of rock that had been electrified in her driveway and turned to glass. The students showed their respect for a guest speaker by being great listeners.
Due to the timeline of the weather including snow, sleet and freezing rain, Millinocket School Department along with East, Medway and Region III are canceling school tomorrow, Thursday, April 3, 2025! Please stay safe.

We have started our annual Bikes for Books campaign. The Maine Masons donate one girl bike and one boy bike for grades PK-5. At the end of the year, we will invite members of the local Masons to an assembly and drawn names to see who will win the bikes. The more a student reads, the greater the chance of winning a bike!
We have began our yearly spring Scholastic Book Fair coin drive. The collected money will be used to ensure every student is able to shop at the book fair. Scholastics will also match the amount raised to give to a school in need. This year, the adult who has the most coins in their bucket will be sprayed with silly string by a class.
It's that time of year for registering students to join our PK program for the 2025-2026 school year. If you or someone you know has a child that will be 4 or 5 years old before October 15, 2025, please fill out and return the form found here. You can also pick up a form in the office or request one be sent via email by contacting Shawna by email at sboyer@millinocketschools.org.
Boreal Theater is offering a summer theater camp.
Spring Instrument Concerts will take place on May 20th for K-2 students and May 21st for 3-5 students. Please read the attached letter for more information.
