Buses will depart from Granite Street for our field trip to watch “Lost on a Mountain in Maine” between 8:00-8:15 am on Friday. 4th & 5th Grade students will go directly to their classrooms on Friday instead of going out to morning recess. We will eat breakfast as soon as students arrive in order to ensure we are ready to depart as close to 8am as possible. If your student is a walker or car rider in the morning, please plan for them to arrive as close to 7:30 AM as possible to ensure they have time to eat breakfast and prepare to leave for our field trip. Please note that students will not be allowed to eat breakfast brought from home on the bus. Thank you for all of the amazing support in making this field trip possible for our 4th & 5th grade students!

Please remember that students should be at Granite Street School by 7:45. They are considered tardy after that time.

conferences
On October 25, 2024, teachers and educational technicians from Millinocket, East Millinocket, and Medway all met together for a regional training by Jan Neureuther. Coffee was served, raffles were given, and staff were able to have professional development on the Science of Behavior. Staff came away from the workshop with an understanding the importance of adult and student regulation; strategies for building connections and positive relationships with students and colleagues; ways of identifying common barriers to coping and regulation; and a basic understanding of The Acting-Out Cycle. Thank you, Jan Neureuther M.S.Ed., Katahdin Area Special Services Director

In the upcoming weeks we will be continuing to practice these drills so please do not be alarmed if you see students out and about during the school day. Rest assured in the case of a real emergency you will be notified. We appreciate all of your support and will continue to do these drills to assure our students and staff safety.

Parents and Guardians, We will be having our winter concerts on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 for grades K-2 and on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 for grades 3-5. Both concerts will begin at 12:30 in the Walker Auditorium at Stearns. Students should wear concert attire consisting of well fitting pants , dress, or skirt with a button up shirt or light weight sweater (it gets warm on the stage). Please refrain from having your child(ren) wear antlers, jingle bells, things with flashing lights, etc. as it can be very distracting for others on the stage and in the audience. Students will be bussed to the Stearns for the concert and back to Granite for dismissal. Students will not be dismissed at Stearns. We look forward to see you on December 17th and 18th. Please contact Mr. McEwen or Granite Street with any questions.
