Millinocket School Department Closing & Delays

Days Added to the End of the School Calendar 2025-2026:

Weather Cancellation & Delay Notification

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This school year our first two (2) winter weather school cancellations will be traditional snow days, which means there will be no virtual instruction provided.  Those two (2) days will be added to the end of the 2025-2026 school calendar in June. If we have more than two (2) cancellations, each additional day will be a virtual learning day and will count as an instructional day for students, which means they won’t be added to the school calendar in June. On those days, students at Granite Street School will use their previously distributed remote learning packets and students at Stearns Jr/Sr High School will access their Canvas Learning Platform accounts for learning materials and receive instruction from their teachers virtually.

In situations where the road conditions improve early in the morning, a two-hour delay may be called in place of canceling for the entire day. In rare instances, we will call an early release.  If school is canceled for the entire day or early release due to weather, please note that all after-school activities are canceled as well.

We will utilize four methods to communicate cancellations:

·         Our automated calling system

·         Our school Facebook page

·         The Millinocket School Department website “closings and delays” page at https://www.millinocketschools.org/page/days-added-to-the-end-of-the-school-calendar

·         WABI Channel 5 TV

Every effort will be made to communicate the decisions regarding cancellations and delays between 5:00-5:30 am.

 Sincerely,

Dr. Shelley Lane, Superintendent of Schools
