WINTER WEATHER CANCELLATION AND DELAY NOTICES
There may be times during the winter months when the roads will be too dangerous to transport students. If school is to be canceled or delayed, announcements will generally be made between 6:00 & 6:30 AM on the radio and TV stations listed below. We will also make every effort to post it on our home page at www.millinocketschools.org.
My plan is to only call “no school” or “2 hour delay”, to develop a consistency in our schedule. On rare occasions a mid-day dismissal may occur. When this situation arises, students will generally be dismissed after lunch on the same schedule as a regular early release day. Please establish a plan that your child will know how to follow should any of these situations occur this winter.
If school is cancelled due to weather or emergencies, there will be no practices or any other use of the facilities allowed, even if the weather clears later in the day. This also includes Recreation Department related activities, such as Little Pro Basketball.
Delays, no school announcements and mid-day dismissals will be announced on the following radio and TV stations:
Radio: TV: Website:
WSYY 94.9 - Millinocket WLBZ TV (Channel 2) – Bangor www.millinocketschools.org
WABI TV (Channel 5) – Bangor
WVII TV (Channel 7) - Bangor
Note to parents/guardians of students in unorganized territories: On rare occasions, there may be a 2 hour delay for students in unorganized territories only, because of the Brownville Road and/or the Lake Road conditions. In those cases, the delay will be announced on the local radio stations.
To all parents and guardians, I want to emphasize that these decisions are made very early in the morning based on the best available weather information at the time. Conditions can change dramatically in a short period of time. The ultimate decision on whether to transport a child to school or allow the child to be transported by school bus on a severe storm day rests with parents.
If you have any questions regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact my office at 723-6400. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
