Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Millinocket School Department has been working on our updated Safety Response Plan (SRP). The plan includes a number of protocols and drills that we must practice, with the hope that we never need to use them. The drills include our yearly fire drills as well as other measures that secure our buildings and classrooms.
The main objective is to be prepared for a number of situations that could arise. We will practice these protocols on a regular basis so that our staff and students are familiar with what to do in an emergency.
In the event of an actual emergency, you will be notified on our Swift System, through text or call. Please keep our schools updated with any changes in your contact information so will be sure to receive notifications from us. The Millinocket School Department prioritizes safety and preparedness, because your childrens’ safety is of the utmost importance.
Thank you,
Jo-Anna Merry, Granite Street School Principal
Beth Peavey, Stearns Junior Senior High School Principal

The Millinocket School Department uses assessment data to help inform our practices at the district, school, classroom, and individual levels for our students. Although we encourage students and parents to participate fully in our assessment program, it is important to note that parents/guardians may opt their child out of state testing. If you are interested in doing so, please reach out to your child's principal to make this request in writing.
Each year the Maine Department of Education issues a report for each district and each school These reports summarize state assessments and other data for students in Grades 3-8 and 11. The report also contains information about teacher qualifications. State law requires those to be made available to the community. The ESSA Dashboard at the Maine Department of Education allows you to review report cards for schools and districts across the state.
